All About ... DSMT Juniors

Dundee Schools Music Theatre Juniors were formed in 2002 to allow younger kids to share the DSMT experience. Originally for primary pupils, and now for S1-S2 pupils, Juniors prepares pupils for the further challenges they will face when they move on to the Senior group by concentrating not only on improving and developing the core skills involved in musical theatre e.g. singing and dancing, but also by introducing the vital team aspect of theatre.

The Juniors gave their first performance, "When Children Rule the World" (a musical revue) to a packed theatre in March 2003. Later that year, the junior group evolved to the format it is in today - now for S1-S2 pupils. Subsequent sell-out performances have included "That's Entertainment" and "Good Vibrations".

Last year, the Juniors took on challenging music and dance from some of the newest and most vibrant musicals of today including Wicked!, High School Musical, Children of Eden and Little Shop of Horrors.

DSMT Juniors performed at Allegro! in the Whitehall Theatre in May 2007.

This year the Juniors are working on selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rogers and Hammerstein which they will perform at Singular Singsation on the Whitehall Theatre on 18th May 2008.
