All About ... back2back

Back to Back was formed in 2004 with the aim of further developing the skills and experience gained through being involved in DSMT. Back to back allows pupils to take their first steps into the adult world of musical theatre under the guidance, at arm’s length, of the production team. The cast is made up of the most senior, experienced pupils from the senior group, combined with ex-senior group pupils who are within their first year of further education.

The group's first production was the highly successful “Side by Side by Sondheim” which played in Dundee, Arbroath, Wurzburg in Germany and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The popularity of these performances led to extra cabaret performances at venues including Dundee's Apex Hotel and Mains Castle. Later that year, the cast were invited to give special performances in Washington D.C and Alexandria, Virginia in the USA. These performances were recieved with standing ovations.

In 2005, the cast was expanded and Back to Back took on the highly challenging "Chess". This production played to sell-out audiences at Dundee's Gardyne Theatre. Since then, the group has continued to impress with a slick, colourful and funny performance of "Hot Mikado" in 2006 and is scheduled to return to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007 with a production of Sandy Wilson's "The Boyfriend".
